“Supporting whānau to learn about cooking & gardening on a budget”
The Oranga Kai facilitator works with local groups and agencies to develop and run Oranga Kai sessions that suit the local community.
Sessions are based around suggestions from the group on what they would like to learn and try.
All sessions are free and the food is provided. The main goal is to increase participant’s skills in cooking healthy food on a budget and encouraging them to try new foods and ways of cooking.
All participants are expected to be ‘hands on’ in the kitchen and garden and cook the food.
Oranga Kai has a ‘train the trainer’ component where kaimahi are supported to deliver workshops in the community.
